Happy Thanksgiving

Today (now yesterday) was a normal day in Germany. I woke up, went to work. Heather took Stanley to Kindergarten, had one on one time with Holly (she calls those times "Holly-day"). I came home from work. We played at the park. I lesson planned and graded for 2-3 hours. It was a normal day. Wait, something special did happen today! It was the first day of the Weimar Christmas Market (Weinachtsmarkt). In just above freezing weather we went out to see the lighting of the Weinachtsbaum, we saw St. Nikolaus and the Weinachtsmann, and we had delicious Handbrot for dinner. The Markt is open most of December and it will be a lot of fun to explore and taste the wonderful treats.

But something else seemed to be happening today. Oh, that's right, today's Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving to those in America. To the rest of the world, it was just another day. It was strange going to work on a day that I've never worked before. But we are thankful for so many things. We miss our friends back home, but we are thankful to be in Germany and having this amazing opportunity. We are thankful for all the amazing things God has done these past 4 months. (That's right, we got on a plane 4 months ago July 25th.) We are thankful to have each other and 2 wonderfully healthy and active kids. We are thankful for the many new friends that we've met here in Weimar. Heather was able to hang out with Susanne this evening. As I am writing this at 12:30 am they are still in the living room hanging out.

Speaking of which, I should get to bed now. I just finished up with my planning and grading and wanted to make a post. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and in between plates of food remember why we celebrate this wonderful holiday. To give thanks to an amazing Creator, Savior, and Friend and how He has richly blessed us.

Here are some fun videos for you to watch.

Leaving our Hauptbahnhof Home, that while frustrating in the moment, we are thankful for all that we learned and experienced there.

Our new home that we are SO thankful for and all the wonderful belongings that God blessed us with.

The wonderful area that we live and how thankful we are for Weimar.

Settling in

Sorry it has been so long since our last update. Since the Zwiebel Markt things have been very busy. My parents, Steve and Sue, came to visit and we had a great time with them. They were here during my two week fall break (we don't get that in America), and I was back at work they day after they left. We had parent teacher conferences that week, and this week Stanley started Kindergarten. Wow, life is busy, but God is good and we are so thankful for where He has us right now. Heather and I are going to read a chapter in "Courageous," a book about being a good dad and husband, and then head to bed (I was up until 1:45am last night grading papers).
