Grandpa Ron and Nana visit us for Easter. Wow, it seems like such a long time ago now. We had so much fun and gave and received lots of hugs.
We went on outings to the park to play and get fresh air.
We had our family picture taken several times.
We had an impromptu Luau when the kids requested a party one day.
We built forts.
We went to an outdoor church service at Belvedere Palace and to a friend's baby's baptism.
The kids continued to become best friends. (We always remind them of this in times of conflict.)
Holly had a school performance. (She is the fourth one from the left with a dog mask on.)
We played many games. (Camel up is pictured here.)
Samuel grew and grew and grew.
We enjoyed picnics in the garden.
Holly had a serious bike crash which earned her a visit to the ER, a teddy bear from the paramedics in the ambulance, and a special day at home with mom for observation, rest, and healing.
We explored as a family.
And made silly faces.
Summer Arts and Music Festival: Holly was an Oompa-Loompa.
Stanley was the gray bear Baloo singing "Bear Necessities".
We had the annual Rollplatz-Parkplatz.
Heather played in the Weimar City Orchestra and we got to go listen.
We traveled by bus.
And by train
We visited an animal park in Gotha
Enjoyed meals on our back patio
Camped in the backyard
Went to the local pool Schwanseebad.
Enjoyed having friends over for Kaffee and Kuchen in our garden.
Made scrolls with Bible verses on them on real papyrus from Uncle Peter.
We rented a car and went on a road trip to Slovenia.
But first stopped off in Salzburg.
Had picnics wherever we could find a place.
Saw the outside of Mozart's birth place.
Visited the Trick Fountains (but be careful, you will get wet).
Went on a crazy hike.
And visited our dear friend Urska.
We saw the sites of Ljubljana.
Went for a boat tour
Visited Lake Bled.
And even went out to the island (but Stuart got sea sick).
Visited the Ljubljana Zoo.
And made some great memories.
Went swimming at Atlantis.
And visited Postojna cave.
And Predjama castle which was built into a cave.
Traveled to Leipzig.
Had a surprise visit from Grandpa Sue.
Celebrated Aunt Caroline's wedding.
Visited a national forest.
And walked in the trees.
Learned new things and how to play together.
Played Zug um Zug (Ticket to Ride).
Started using Teil Auto (a car share).
Visited castles. This is Eckartsberga.
Saw Dinoworld.
Sat on a train that didn't work.
And flew through the air.
Played mini golf.
And rode an Alpine slide.
We celebrated Holly's Schulanfang or Zuckertutenfest which is a big celebration of beginning first grade.
And enjoyed a picnic BBQ with many of our friends.
We played at the park.
Enjoyed meals out.
And made lots of music.
We had a special visit from John and Kathryn Plett.
Our church held a service on the main city square.
We ate lots of ice cream.
Enjoyed a church camping trip where Scott and the kids slept in Tee-Pees.
We read a lot.
And colored.
We got caught in the rain.
And played with bubbles.
We got dressed up for back to school night.
Met new friends like Esther.
Said good-bye to old friends like Theresa.
We played and used our creativity.
We were always coming or going or somewhere in between.
We learned to do new things.
Rode our bikes.
Climbed and played.
And enjoyed the simple things of life.
Whew, so much that has happened and yet so much to come. We are enjoying life and trying to capture every moment. But sometimes, especially with little kids, things move by so quickly that you blink and can't believe how far you've come. Thank you for taking the time to enjoy some of our pictures.
